DAFNE CALDERÓN

The concept of a "triad witch" is as much a cultural one as it is a concrete phenomena. For centuries, mankind has observed that multiple birth witches can occasionally tap into one another's power, making each member of the bond more powerful. Not only does Dafne share her magical powers with her two siblings, but the three of them were raised by a tight-knit coven of witches who all believed that because they were magically powerful triplets, the Calderóns were the three most important people in the world - fated to be great heroes. Who's to say how many of the prophecies that were told about Dafne are true? The future isn't set in stone. But what is a done deal at this point is how self-important Dafne is, as she thoroughly believes she is the specialest girl in any room.

Dafne uses an arsenal of magical potions and beauty products to keep her appearance perfect at all times. To her, good looks are the very first line of defense against criticism. She never has a hair out of place or leaves an outfit un-accessorized. Seeing her less than perfect is a once-in-a-blue-moon type of deal.

General Witchcraft: Dafne's spellcasting is innate and intuitive, more a process of meditation and self-mastery than one of technical know-how or book learning. She was tutored by some of the most talented witches in her small coven growing up, and has a thorough schooling in many different magical arts.

Potion-making: Dafne's aptitude for potion-making is borderline supernatural, and she oftentimes can just follow her intuition to get her through difficult recipes she's never attempted before. Although she's limited by the materials she has to work with, she has the know-how to brew almost any sort of potion you could imagine. She will no longer brew love potions due to The Incident, however.

The Power of Three: Dafne and her siblings are a once-in-a-generation set of magical triplets who are especially powerful and, allegedly, fated for greatness. This also allows her to tap into her siblings' unique powers to a smaller extent (for example, thanks to Dio's astrological skills, she can immediately tell what anyone's zodiac sign is by looking at them).

Dafne has accrued a lot of fleeting hobbies over the course of her life, and knows middling amounts about many different kinds of skills and tasks. She can passably play the guitar and sing, although she's no great talent. She knows how to ride horses and cook and surf and sew her own clothes, theoretically. In practice she excels at very few of these skills, but it's easy to mistake her for someone who's highly accomplished based on how she talks about herself.

Dafne was born in the La Paz coven in Baja California Sur, the middle child of a set of three triplets. Multiple births in the coven were revered as being cosmologically significant, and it had been decades since the last set of twins. The Calderóns are the first triplets in over a century, and they've been absolutely doted on by everyone in their community since the time they were small children.

Thanks to the backing of the moderately wealthy and influential La Paz coven, the Calderóns have lead a charmed existence doing pretty much whatever they want - rarely working to make a living, but oftentimes instead traveling the world and going on adventures.

In the last few years, Dafne has begun to feel a draw to greater purpose - throughout her childhood, she often ignored the implications of being a Fated Hero in favor of having a good time, but now finally the expectations of her community are beginning to weigh on her. The truth is she has no idea how to be a hero, or even a truly good person, and she's far too self-confident to admit it.

So answering the summons for the Adventure Society was a whim of her, and she's brought however many of her triplets she can convince to come along with her.

miscellaneous trivia

The Calderóns are slightly late arrivals to the Adventure Society because Dionisio prophesied that if they went on time, Dafne would have a whirlwind and ill-fated romance with someone there that resulted in her getting her heart broken at prom. That future's all cleared up now, so they're good to go. (Dafne is completely unaware any of this happened.)
